Oracle provides numerous opportunities for system administrators of all levels to prove that they have the knowledge and skills necessary to administer an Oracle Solaris 10 system. Depending on the exam chosen, the difficulty level of the exam ranges from moderate to very hard.

Oracle Certified Associate: Oracle Solaris 10 Operating System

This is the entry level certification for Oracle Solaris 10 system administrators. This exam covers basic Unix commands and system administration tasks with an emphasis on the Solaris 10 implementation. Some of the topics that are covered include the use of vi, shell metacharacters, searching for files and directories, process control, shell environment settings, and transfer of file archives.

Most experienced Solaris system administrators should be able to pass this exam without studying. Those who are transferring from another type of Unix should be able to pass this exam with minimal studying. There are 52 questions on the exam. The minimum passing score is 50%. The exam needed for this certification is CX-310-105.
