In theory, Windows System Restore is a great idea. The theory is that a user could restore data and programs to a previous point in time before the computer was damaged. It is often used by technical support personnel in order to fix a problem.
For example, a program that no longer works could be reverted to an earlier working configuration via System Restore. That's why System Restore is used frequently by tech support people. The best part is that personal files such as Word documents are not affected by System Restore. Personal files will always reflect the latest revision.
